Notes from May
A monthly edit of what I’ve been reading, watching, using, wearing and everything i've been loving in May.
Hoping to make this a recurring series, landing on the last Sunday of each month. (a little late this time but we’ll get there) Let me know what you’d like to see more of.
🎬 Watching
We just finished Your Friends & Neighbours with Jon Hamm (Kind gives 'Big Little Lies' vibes or similar shows) loved it for something a little more fun. This came after MobLand on Paramount, which I’m still on the fence about. The idea was there, but (and I hate to join the club) the accents just weren’t 🙈 What should we watch next?
📝 Wish-listing
Still no home - after more than a few failed attempts. They say buying a house is one of life’s big challenges, but I didn’t realise just how much. That hasn’t stopped me from bookmarking every interiors item I see. After reading India’s piece on Bed Threads, I think I’m officially sold on the blue linen.
Bed Threads - 2&3 Glassette Bowls & Basketweave Bowl - 4. Lamp (Never shopped on this site, so not sure what it’s like) - 5. Partnership Editions artwork by Ann-Marie Williamson.
📚 Reading
I haven’t read much since I Have Never Known Men (thanks to Buffy’s Book Club for that rec but I think that was sometime last year, ashamed to say). With a few trips coming up, I’m hoping to get back into a rhythm.
Trespasses by Louise Kennedy is first on my list - recommended by a friend. If you’ve read anything lately you’ve loved, send it my way.
🧴 Using
Merit Beauty just launched their new tinted mineral sunscreen and it might be my new go-to for summer - light coverage, glow, SPF, done.
Just finished the Pureology Hydrate Shampoo, Conditioner, and Treatment Spray and honestly, they’re the first products in a while that made my hair feel genuinely healthy again. After splurging on others that didn’t work for me (looking at you, Redken Acidic Bonding and L’Oréal Absolut Repair), this was a very welcome reset.
I’m also deep in my body oil era. With super dry skin, these are non-negotiable: Aveeno, UNI and Mirror Water. Especially in summer - hydration and glow, what more do you need?
🧣 Wearing
While the rest of the UK seems to be basking in sunshine, Northern Ireland’s still stuck in spring. That said, I’ve been playing with outfit ideas for when the weather does remember it’s summer - easy layers, light knits, and dresses I’m manifesting the sun for. Plus an outfit i’m wearing right now. You can find most items here.
That was May. As always, if you’ve read, watched, or found anything worth sharing, I’d love to hear it. See you soon.
